Rosie Perez
Rosie Perez, born Rosa Maria Perez 7 September, 1964, is an American dancer and choreographer. Her first big break came from her role as Tina in the film Do the Right Thing (1989), followed by White Men Can't Jump (1992). Perez's performance on Fearless (1993), won her an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. It Could Happen to You (1994) as well as The Road to El Dorado(2000) as well as Pineapple Express(8) and Birds of Prey(2020) are among her most well-known films.
Perez was nominated for three Primetime Emmy Award nominations in In Living Color (1990-1994) and an additional Emmy nomination (2020-present) for her character as The Flight Attendant. She has appeared involved in Broadway plays like The Ritz, Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune. She was also the co-host of The View's 18th season on ABC's talk show The View.
Childhood and early life
Perez was born on September 6 1964, in the Bushwick neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York City She was the daughter of Lydia Perez and Ismael Serrano an ocean-going merchant mariner. [3][4][5The girl's name was Lydia Fontanez. Lydia Fontanez was her name. Lydia Fontanez Reyes was her mother. Her birth date was October 13, 1939 in Humacao. Her father was from Aguadilla, Puerto Rico. Her mother was married to a man 20 years older than her, Arturo Perez. After an affair with the father of Serrano Perez's mother had five children. Perez was born in the now-closed Greenpoint Hospital in Brooklyn's Greenpoint neighborhood.
Perez is one of ten children brought up by her mother. Rosie as well as her siblings grew up in Bushwick in the period when their mother was held in jail. While in prison, the mother of her child gave birth to her second daughter. She was raised by an aunt and as with her siblings, passed through group homes and foster care. She and her siblings were often divided. She was placed in one of the foster families and was in foster homes throughout New York and Peekskill up until age eight. From the age of twelve the girl was considered legal an ward in New York. Aunt and mother often visited her, and her father unsuccessfully attempted to take custody of her at one time.
